This is what we learned from cooking outside all year round for the last 9 years

At Stedsans we cook all meals outside, no matter the weather.

(And we know what we talk about as we were working in ‘normal’ kitchens for over 15 years before moving to the forest).

A work environment where artificial light and toxic steams from a noisy dishwashing machine is swapped with fresh air and bird song. 

Being outdoors, feeling the elements and the rhythms of the day makes our brains produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter known for having many positive effects on a person’s well-being. 

We believe and experience that energy is being passed on to our guests. 

Cooking outside makes us feel connected, happy, strong and alive.

No day is the same as the day before as the weather influences cooking times, how well our fires burn and much more. We have to stay present and in touch with our intuition.

We have created a work place where we use our physics, senses, creativity and logic. A life in balance. 

One thing is for sure: We will keep the fires going and stay outside. Always!
