Why do we make our guests share their food with strangers?

At Stedsans, all meals are enjoyed family-style with all guests eating together.

Ancestral traditions and know-how is a guideline in everything we do at Stedsans.

Our communal table is one of the results from this reflection. This is the physical translation of the vision we have for the World - to again make it a place where we share what Mother Nature gives us.

By inviting our guests to sit around the table to share a meal made with love, we want food to regain its second main value (after survival): bringing people together.

We believe in the infinite power of sharing plates, meeting a person’s eye, hearing new stories. It nurtures a sense of community - you get happy when you see, listen, share and help each other out.

It is proven scientifically that we get more happy when we give and share than when we take and receive. In that sense, sharing is how we truly receive.

From our outdoor kitchen, we can hear people discussing and laughing. This is when the magic happens. When the ‘why’ we are dreaming about every day, is just right in front of our eyes.

We have more than 10 years of experience with the power of our communal table, so we know that coming to our place is much more than booking your seat in a restaurant. It is also a social experiment full of benefits for your mind, body & soul.

Below is a testimony from a guest who came and met real friends at our table. Her 'Swedish family’, as she calls it.

In 2017, just after arriving at Stedsans we got in touch with two guests from Sweden. We had an amazing time, enjoyed the good food & the experience in the woods together. We exchanged numbers and stayed in contact. In 2019 we got invited & […] a deep friendship developed - and now all the lovely people there are our “Swedish family”. We even got married in their garden in 2021 & travel as often as we can. So thank you Stedsans, not only for the great nature experience, but also for being a place for unforgettable meetings with other people.
